Obesity Epidemic?

Millions of Americans are overweight (BMI of 25 or higher) or obese (BMI of 30 or higher). If you are carrying a lot of extra pounds, you are putting yourself at risk of some serious diseases, such as:

1. hypertension
2. diabetes
3. Heart disease
4. stroke
5. arthritis
6. breathing problems

Losing weight helps prevent and/or control these diseases.

Weight loss is a complex process that requires dedication and commitment. It's not just about eating less and exercising more. It involves making changes, both physically and mentally. While there are many different methods for losing weight, the quick weight loss method will not provide lasting results. More often than not, quick weight loss methods do not work, and if they do, the results are temporary. It is better to rely on a weight loss option that will provide lifetime results.

Here are some tips to help you lose those unwanted pounds:
1. Do not starve yourself.
You may lose some unwanted flab from your belly and thighs by skipping meals, but remember, this will not last long.

2. Start your day the right way.
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. The healthy meal you eat in the morning will jump-start your metabolism and be used to fuel your day.

3. Decide how much weight you want to lose.
You have to set realistic goals. Do not expect to lose a great deal of weight in a short amount of time. It is important to focus on healthy eating habits and creating an effective plan that will help you reach your desired body weight.

4. Drink plenty of water.
Your body needs sufficient water to burn fat and keep your cells healthy.

5. Avoid too much sugar.
Cakes, cookies, candy, sweet breads, etc. should be a once-in-a-while indulgence.

6. Watch your fat intake.
Fat is NOT the enemy. You need this to keep your weight at the proper level.

It does not matter how much weight you need to lose. What is important is that you find the diet that is best for you, and can be adjusted to fit your lifestyle, and supports your weight loss goals. You will have a better chance of losing weight, keeping it off, and becoming a new, healthier you.
